Built around an antique water well, with some of the erstwhile farm dam walls incorporated into the structure, this classic Karoo cottage boasts its own windmill out back, which fills a tiny dam. Can anyone say, Instagram-opportunity?
The décor plays up the cottage’s spartan lines and light, airy space with mostly bright-white furnishings – many of them restored antiques. The bathroom with its luxurious Victorian claw-foot bath will definitely be calling after a long day of produce shopping (just imagine how well a glass of wine will go down here?). That’s if you’re not hanging out on the bamboo-slat shaded front stoep after having whipped up the dinner of all dinners in the well-equipped kitchen (it was, after all, fitted out by the folks behind a cooking school), or turning a couple of Prince Albert’s legendary Karoo lamb chops in the outside braai. In winter, the large family room with its fireplace will do nicely for snuggling up with some red wine and board games, before it’s time to hit the hay in your plush king-sized bed.
